Artist's statement:
I am an artist, working primarily in static, lens-based media with a particular interest in deconstructing the commodification of the art object.

My work negotiates an n-dimensional hyperspace, whose many axes include post-Ballardian notions of dystopia, challenges to conventional beliefs of place as the ur-signifier, and the zonal interfaces at which the normal space-time premises fracture. By inviting the viewer to meditate within these spaces (or, in a sense, lacunae), conventional narratives of discourse cease to operate and the art-artviewer construct dissolves and re-radiates into synergistic pathways of learning. My primary influences include Warhol, The New Finnish School of Photography, Debord, Nan Goldin and Sian Bonnell.

Projects:

Horse trees (2001-2004) - journeys within [my]self
Ur-place (1999-2001) - the fissure zones
Full moon fever (2008 to ongoing) - artistic responses to hunger
